Jorge Pardo and Álex Conde stage the world premiere of Jat Jazz Bolling Flamenco on Sunday 28 June at the Auditorio Joaquín Rodrigo in Sagunto, a new project fusing jazz, flamenco and classical music.

The Auditorio Joaquín Rodrigo in Sagunto — named after the city's most celebrated composer, who was born here in 1901 and wrote the Concierto de Aranjuez — hosts the world premiere of Jat Jazz Bolling Flamenco on Sunday 28 June at 20:30. The project pays tribute to French composer Claude Bolling, whose 1975 Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio spent 530 weeks on the Billboard chart and defined jazz-classical crossover. Leading the ensemble is Jorge Pardo (flute), winner of Spain's Premio Nacional de Música Contemporánea in 2015 and a Grammy for Best Jazz Album with Chick Corea's Antidote in 2020. Pianist Álex Conde — a Valencia native, Berklee College of Music graduate and founder of the Piano Flamenco Institute in New York — is responsible for the arrangements. The full ensemble includes Jordi Jiménez (drums), Maite Galarza (cello), Eva Fuster (violin), José Antonio Tello (saxophone) and Manel Chust (percussion). Tickets cost €11. Also this week: the free theatre piece Llueven plays 25-26 June at the Casa Municipal de Cultura, and the tragicomedy Entre el cielo y la tierra is at the Mario Monreal Centre on Saturday 27 June (€7). According to Sagunto City Council.
