Circo Raluy Legacy brings CYBORG show to Puerto de Sagunto from 5 September
Circo Raluy Legacy will set up its show CYBORG at the Parking Alucines site in Puerto de Sagunto from 5 to 13 September, its last performances in the Valencian Community after more than six months on tour.
Puerto de Sagunto will host the Circo Raluy Legacy big top from 5 September, when the company sets up its show 'CYBORG' at the Parking Alucines site for nearly two weeks. This is the company's final stop in the Valencian Community (Comunidad Valenciana, the Spanish region that includes Sagunto), closing out a leg of the tour that has already lasted more than six months across the area, after earlier stops in towns such as Torrevieja, where it ran from 17 July to 30 August.
Performances in Puerto de Sagunto will run until 13 September, according to the company's own website. From 5 to 13 September, that adds up to nine days of performances. Ticket prices go from €10 to €55 depending on the day, and can be booked either online or directly at the box office next to the big top. After leaving Sagunto, 'CYBORG' will head to Amposta, in Tarragona province, where it will run from 19 to 27 September, closing the Valencian leg of a tour that, according to its organisers, has already drawn more than 400,000 people. Putting up the main tent, the seating stands and the rest of the infrastructure requires a large open area — a car park or vacant lot — as with any large touring circus, which explains why the company chose the Parking Alucines site as its Sagunto base. That wide price range, with cheaper tickets for some performances and pricier ones for others, also helps families fit the visit into their budget just as many households are already facing the first costs of the new school year.
'CYBORG' takes audiences on a staged journey from the past to the future, mixing acrobatics, high-risk acts, aerial choreography and comedy within a futuristic setting that blends classic and newer circus disciplines. One of the highlights is the Globe of Death — several motorcycles circling inside a metal sphere — performed by Los Segura, alongside routines from the Niedziela sisters and Emily Raluy, back on stage after three years away. The line-up is rounded out by Dimitri, Bigotes and Pietro, the international group Legión Malambo — making its Spanish debut with this production — and aerial-acrobatics specialists The Black Angels, together with performer Rita. That mix of generations and backgrounds, from names historically tied to the Raluy family to foreign companies appearing on this stage for the first time, helps explain the audience numbers the tour has built up.
Co-director Louisa Raluy sums up 'CYBORG' as a blend of characters, stage machinery, risk, balance and comedy; her fellow director, Kerry Raluy, points to the staging, choreography and costumes as the production's strong points. The Sagunto stop comes shortly after the company received the Gold Medal of the Spanish Academy of Performing Arts (Academia de las Artes Escénicas de España), an award given each year to outstanding careers in fields such as theatre, dance or, in this case, circus. Adding to that recognition, Circo Raluy Legacy earned the Big Top Label in 2023, the European quality certification for touring circuses, becoming the first Spanish company to receive it.
Behind 'CYBORG' lies a family story that began in the mid-20th century: the original Circo Raluy was born in Catalonia in 1960, founded by Marina Tomás Jorba and acrobat Luis Raluy Iglesias, who had previously performed with the Los Keystone troupe and was known for his "human cannonball" act and for completing a triple somersault at the wheel of a car; he died in 1984. In 2016, the original circus split into three companies run by different branches of the family, among them Circo Raluy Legacy and Circo Histórico Raluy, which explains the name 'Legacy' carried by the troupe now performing in Sagunto. Legacy is today one of the branches carrying that circus business forward, with more than sixty years of history in Spain, and it is the one now touring the Valencian Community before heading on to Amposta.
The dates chosen for Sagunto — just before the new school year begins — make 'CYBORG' one of the last big family entertainment options of the summer in town. From other towns in the Camp de Morvedre district, the drive to Puerto de Sagunto is short, so residents from across the district will be able to attend without travelling to the tour's other stops in Torrevieja or Amposta. For local audiences, it is also a rare chance to see, close to home, a production that has already toured much of the country, blending family circus tradition with large-scale staging; sessions will be spread across different days and time slots during the nine-day Sagunto run, with the venue box office and the company website as the main ways to get tickets in advance.
